Stepping Into the Unknown: Films from the Bob Dylan Center
The Bob Dylan Center presents a far-ranging one-hour program of short films and videos from the Bob Dylan Archive featuring rare and previously unreleased clips of Dylan on stage and in the studio. Spanning decades and musical styles, this compendium of clips highlights Dylanâs arrival in Greenwich Village and his early protest songs. Selections include Dylanâs first film soundtrack for 1961âs âAutopsy on Operation Abolition;â a devastating solo rendition of âBallad of Hollis Brown;â a rollicking 1976 take on âI Pity the Poor Immigrantâ with Joan Baez; a gospel-infused âBlowinâ in the Wind;â a loving tribute to Tony Bennett; a glimpse into the Archiveâs film restoration project with never-before-seen footage of âItâs All Over Now, Baby Blueâ from 1966; and, in keeping with the season, a look at the making of Dylanâs yuletide album âChristmas in the Heart.â
