Raoul BarrĂ© is a cartoon pioneer who has lived in MontrĂ©al, Paris and New York. BarrĂ© studied at the AcadĂ©mie Julian in Paris and worked as an illustrator and cartoonist. He founded the BarrĂ©-Nolan Studio and contributed to the industrialization of animation. He invented the âslash systemâ and the âpeg barâ, major innovations in animation. BarrĂ© trained many famous animators, including those who created Felix the Cat. He returned to MontrĂ©al in 1929, where he continued to paint and exhibit.
