Bertie Gregory
Acting
Bertie Gregory is an award-winning British wildlife filmmaker, cinematographer, and National Geographic Explorer whose work has redefined immersive natural history storytelling. Known for his "hands-on" approach to filmmakingâoften serving as his own Director of Photography while hostingâGregory has become a central figure in bringing the planetâs most elusive and endangered species to global audiences. âHis trajectory into the natural history film industry began with a childhood obsession that saw him out in the field with a camera from a young age. This early dedication was first recognized when he was named 'Youth Outdoor Photographer of the Year.' After graduating with a degree in Zoology from the University of Bristol in 2014, Gregoryâs career was fast-tracked when he began assisting the legendary National Geographic photographer Steve Winter. This partnership transitioned into television, with the duo producing major specials such as Leopards at the Door and Jaguar Vs Croc. âGregory's technical prowess and on-camera charisma led to a prolific run with National Geographic and Disney+, where he has hosted and produced numerous high-stakes projects, including Wild_Life, The Big Freeze, and Resurrection Island. The latter earned him the prestigious Best Television Host title at the 2019 Jackson Wild Awardsâwidely considered the "Oscars" of the nature film world. âIn addition to his hosting duties, Gregory is an elite cinematographer who has contributed to some of the most celebrated blue-chip series in history. While filming for the landmark BBC David Attenborough series Seven Worlds, One Planet, he became one of BAFTAâs youngest-ever cinematography winners. His career has since expanded into major global franchises for Disney+, including Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory, Animals Up Close, and Secrets of the Penguins, where he continues to push the boundaries of technology and storytelling to advocate for global conservation.
